The white jade seal with the inscription “Jianglong” from the imperial collection was originally from an old collection.

This imperial seal is carved from a single block of premium white Tianhuang stone, surmounted by an openwork finial of interlocking dragons, with the side of the square base incised with an imperial inscription. The stone features a noble milky white base tone, thick waxy gelatinous texture, inherent subtle glossy luster, and the characteristic radish-vein pattern and red lattice lines of Tianhuang stone, with natural russet skin and red veins on the side. The finial is carved in high relief and openwork with multiple coiling chilong dragons weaving through cloud scrolls, detailed with scales, claws and fierce expressions. The square base is thick and well-proportioned, its side framed by cloud-scroll borders and incised in regular script with the inscription: “Treasure of the Panchen Erdeni, Hutuktu of Tashilhunpo, conferred by imperial decree in the first year of the Qianlong reign of the Great Qing,” matched with double-layer fabric display base. All stone selection, roughing, dragon finial carving in the round and openwork, base trimming, inscription engraving and polishing are finished by pure traditional handcraft without mass-produced industrial molds. The stone develops richer tone and antique patina after long-term preservation away from direct strong light. Care Instruction: Tianhuang stone is soft and brittle. Avoid dropping and hard impact to prevent chipping on dragon horns, claws, openwork gaps and base corners.
